ANNE MAY TØNNESSEN
Anne May Tønnessen lives and works in Haugesund, Norway. She uses fluid acrylics and a range of painting techniques to bring her artworks to life. Recent solo exhibitions include A.M.T (2020), A.M.T II (2021).
Tønnessen is an educated rose-painter from Sand Yrkesskole, a Scandinavian decorative folk painting that flourished from the 1700s to the mid-19th century. Tønnessen went on to teach this painting technique for over a decade. She eventually took a keen interest in acrylic painting, studying under artists Michael Land and Lena Andersen.
Tønnessen paints intuitively and feels that the artwork itself gives her notice when complete. She finds inspiration from music, shapes, nature, and dreams.
